  1. 1.  Jonathan S. RADEBACH was born 13 Oct 1816, Mifflin, Pennsylvania (son of Daniel RADEBACH and Elizabeth LNU); died 18 Oct 1896, Du Bois, Clearfield, Pennsylvania; was buried Penfield Cemetery, Penfield, Clearfield, Pennsylvania.

    Notes:

    "DIED - John S. Radebach of this place while walking on the railroad between Falls Creek and DuBois last Saturday was struck by an engine which knocked him down and run over his left leg, grinding the bones to powder, then rolled him into the creek 12 feet below. He was taken to DuBois and placed under the care of three good surgeons, who did all in their power to relieve his sufferings, and on Sunday afternoon the mangled limb was amputated. The aged gentleman lived but a few hours after the operation was performed.
    Mr. Radebach was born in Mifflin Co., Pa., Oct 13, 1816 and died Oct. 18, 1896, Aged 80 years and 5 days. His parents moved to Clearfield in 1819, when there were but 13 houses where the town of Clearfield now stands. He lived in Clearfield until 1856 when he moved to Ohio and stayed about one year then moved back to this county where he resided until the time of his death.
    He was the father of Mrs. J.H. Kline and J.H. Radebach of this place, D.E. Radebach of Reynoldsville and W.H. Radebach of Clearfield.
    The remains were brought to this place on Monday and funeral services were held in the Presbyterian Church conducted by Rev. Caldwell assisted by Rev. Gulding of the M.E. Church and Rev. A.A. Bird of Wilcox. The interment was in the Southside cemetery." Weekly Press 31 Oct 1896



    He took a train to visit his son William. After realizing he had taken the wrong train, he decided to walk one and a half miles on the train tracks, where he was run down and maimed and tossed into the river. He didn't hear the train coming. unattributed

    To son John, my plantation for £400 of which he shall have his share.

    Estate to be divided among all children, of whom Jacob, Benjamin, Catharine Elizabeth are named.
    Appoints Nicholas HAWK, Sr. guardian for 3 minor children.
    Exrs: Wife Susanna and son John.
    Wits: Jacob POTTEICHER and John RIEGEL.



    Birth year on headstone of 1738 does not agree with family group sheet from Germany which shows 1736.

    In George's will of 5 Sep 1793 - 3 Oct 1793 appoints Exrs: Wife Susanna and son John. Wits: Jacob Potteicher and John Riegel. Susanna is listed in the Index to Berks Co., PA. Will and Abstracts, 1752 - 1825 and is dated 25 Nov 1822, willabs 13. txt. I would gather from the last she died in 1822 and birth about 1738 Find A Grave
