- Our Robison 'family lore' has James and Sarah dying, and the children being parceled out to be raised by relatives. We did find all three children in the 1850 Census living with three different families, including Robert, our ancestor, living with Sarah Burton's brother Robert and his wife Lucy. But clearly James and Sarah were not dead, and perhaps they never actually married. After James pledged to marry Ruth Young in 1837, Sarah Burton was either unable or unwilling to care for her three children.
