Old Ship Church, Hingham, Massachusetts This is the only surviving 17th-century Puritan meetinghouse, and it is the oldest church which has been continuously used for worship in North America. The most distinctive feature of the building is its roof structure, which resembles a ship, which likely resulted in the name of the church. The structure has sometimes been identified as hammerbeam roof, which it is not. | ||
