    Abraham Lowman Stokes, aged 83, died at the family residence, 221 Broad Street, at noon today after a lingering illness.

    Mr. Stokes was born in Butler and was employed by the Standard Plate Glass company for 38 years, retiring a few years ago.

    Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary E. Stokes, the following sons and daughters: Charles and Harry of Butler, Warren of Ellwood City, and Edward Stokes of Butler, Mrs. Annie Adams of Washington, Mrs. Ella Osenbaugh of Butler, Mrs. Stella McCandless of Detroit, Michigan, and Mrs. Ida Cooper of Butler, and two brothers, Elmer of Butler and William Stokes of New Kensington.

    He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Butler.
