Clarence Charles Hobart (1854-1932) was the founder of the three Troy companies that bear his name: Hobart Electric Manufacturing Company (now P.M.I.), Hobart Brothers Company (now I.T.W.) and Hobart Cabinet Company. He was an engineering and industrial pioneer whose companies have provided products around the world and whose creative entrepreneurial genius inspired numerous engineers. The Hobart companies continue to be major employers in the region. Close ties with Wright Patterson Air Force Base have given these companies a major strategic importance in war and peace and allowed them to become leaders in patented technology for the product areas they encompass: welding technology and products; ground power; and kitchen, restaurant and food equipment. The C.C. Hobart Foundation continues to be an area benefactor in community activities. Dayton Walk of Fame
