Roberta Z. Welch, 93, of Landisville, died Tuesday at Hillside Care Center, Marin County, Calif. She had been visiting her daughter, Barbara Brooks of Novato, Calif. She died of complications following an accidental fall. Mrs. Welch assisted her husband with his work as a chemical engineering consultant. Early in her life she worked in the accounting department of West Virginia Pulp & Paper Co. She was a volunteer for the Head Start program and a member of Hempfield United Methodist Church. An avid bridge player, she enjoyed knitting and gourmet cooking. A valedictorian of Tyrone High School, Class of 1921, she attended Ohio Wesleyan College. Born in Tyrone, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Edna Taylor Zentmyer. Her husband, W. Arthur Welch, died in 1992. Besides her daughter Barbara, she is survived by another daughter, Betsy W., wife of James C. Lennon of Marietta; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
