A male descendant of our James Robertson was given a YDNA test. Two of the close YDNA matches, George Thomas Robison and Matthew Lee Robertson, both claim James Robertson d.1748 in Louisa Co. Virginia as their earliest know ancestor.

This tree on Ancestry.com, https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/person/tree/103078068/person/400081401520/facts?_phsrc=TQs12&_phstart=successSource, lists this same James Robertson d.1748 in Louisa Co. Virginia. But she shows the grandfather of this James being Nicholas Robertson, who researcher Angus P. Robinson has identified as the brother of our Jeffrey Robertson, both of whom were born in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Other close YDNA matches are Walter Robison, Jessy Roberson, and Ernest Carroll Roberson all of whom claim James Roberson 1737-1828 and Mary Fuqua 1740-1822 as their earliest known ancestors, but nothing further is know about their ancestry.

When Sheridan was 17 years, old, he came with his older brothers from Indiana to Scandia. Later on, his parents, and the younger brothers arrived and joined him here. During his early years in Scandia he worked for a time on the Rock Island railroad bridge which was being built.
