Record of George Zentmyer's employment prior to 1937

The Railroad Retirement Act of 1937 established pension payments for retired railroad employees. Benefits were calculated on total years of service, so employees were required to document railroad employment prior to 1937.

George was a Train Dispatcher In Las Vegas for the L.A. & S.L. for about two and one-half years. That was an abbreviation for Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad, nicknamed the Salt Lake Route. This line was 50% owned by the Union Pacific until April of 1921, when the UPRR acquired the remaining 50%.
