John's response to a 1984 tribute to Glenn Miller on KCET.
John's children knew of his fondness for the music of the big bands era, as he had recordings of this music in many formats and played them often. After his passing we were surprised to discover this written piece and its emotional content, as most of John's journal writings were day-by-day matter-of-fact narratives devoid of any introspection. We can't help but wonder what happened during those early war years that engendered this emotional response.
